Director Gerhard Hross has always been enthusiastic about the fantasy genre and gothic horror. In film school he directed a short ghost film about a girl in coma: „Insomnia“. Later he went on to direct his first feature film for German Television – „Possession“ about a deadly love triangle. „Beyond Remedy“ is his second feature length film.
39 year-old director Gerhard Hross tries to locate the fantasy and horror themes of his work in a real world-emotional story with individual characters. „There´s a lot of psychological truth in the great myths  - and this truth touches the audience.“ His goal is to bring back some magic, even it is sometimes dark, in our lives.
Gerhard Hross has also worked as a director of commercials and has gathered a lot of experience with creating fascinating and emotional pictures.
Since film school Gerhard Hross has written about genre film. He wrote a book about the films of John Carpenter and essays about, e.g, „the return of the elder gods – religion in horror film“.
